PJJ Profile Activities & Achievement Newsletter Contact What's New

Increasing numbers of children whether victims or accused have been in contact with Cambodia’s justice system. Many children have become victims of rape and trafficking while others have been turned into juvenile offenders, who are now in custody or serving their sentences.

Such a newsletter titled “Children First” is initiated by the Protection of Juvenile Justice with an attempt to push law enforcement officials, particularly judicial police and court officials to prioritize child-related cases which require special protection and treatment in accordance with the law. This newsletter is an aid to the readers’ understanding in Convention on the Rights of the Child, Cambodia’s child-related laws, circumstances and information facing both child victims and children in trouble with the law serving their sentences in prisons, court proceedings in Cambodia’s judicial system, and court decisions in certain cases handled by PJJ lawyers. To sum up, the afore-mentioned matters must be heard in order that the best interest of children can be ensured.
